Legends Haul started in a 1500-square ft facility in North Vancouver in 2018, with one goal- to bridge the gap between local producers and the end consumer. Today the team resides in East Vancouver in a state of the art 30,000-square ft facility. Over the last 6 years, the company has pivoted to the ever changing climate and customer needs, focusing on wholesale, distribution, grocery delivery, catering and manufacturing. Our Yeshi story begins in 2017 with the husband and wife team of Paul and Barbara Kleinschmidt from Vancouver Island BC. Paul became aware that he had a severe gluten intolerance but rather than it affecting his gut health it actually heavily affected his mental health. After doing a ton of research Paul swore off gluten and Barbara being a cook by trade, developed a delicious gluten free dressing, what we all know now as Yeshi.

Yeshi was born out of love and our mission is to continue to share gluten free deliciousness with the world! After tasting the dressing, Paul knew that they had something special, so they amped up production and bought a table at the James Bay Farmers Market during the summer of 2017. After selling out constantly and the market season coming to an end, loyal fans were panicking about where they could get Yeshi. After this success and feeling inspired, Paul and Barbara spent $2,500 to convert their garage into a commercial kitchen.

After years of doing everything themselves, Paul and Barbara eventually moved into a bigger production facility, brought on a team of Yeshi fans to focus on growth of the brand and as of 2024, we are now in over 1,200 retailers Canada wide. Jeff Lee is a commercial beekeeper, former journalist and member of not-for-profit boards that represent food producers, farmers and beekeepers.

Lee, 66, is a co-owner of  Honey Bee Zen Apiaries Ltd and Swan Valley Honey Ltd, the largest producers of local, raw honey in southeastern British Columbia. With his wife Amanda they operate a CFIA-licensed food processing facility in Creston. They recently won several international awards for their honey.

Lee was nominated for the Leadership award for several reasons, including his ongoing work in helping to resettle Ukrainian farming families displaced by the Russian invasion of their country. He has worked to promote farm-to-table solutions for farmers and food producers through his work as chair of the Fields Forward Society, which operates the Kootenay Farms Food Hub and Innovation Centre. And he has been active advocating on behalf of honey producers, both as a long-time executive member of the B.C. Honey Producers Association and as the B.C. director for the Canadian Honey Council.

As a reporter for The Vancouver Sun for 30 years Lee covered municipal, provincial and federal politics and broke significant investigative stories. He was influential in causing governments to adopt or change policies that improved public services.

In 2022 Lee advocated for resettling Ukrainian beekeepers to B.C., both for humanitarian reasons and to support the local industry by reducing reliance on temporary foreign worker programs. He has helped five families relocate to Creston. His company employs three full-time Ukrainian food processors and beekeepers.

Laura Cuner DuBois grew up in a small farming community in Argentina where she became very familiar with farming practices from an early age.  After finishing University, she moved to North America where she started to promote agricultural products grown without chemicals. For the past 25 years she has been supporting many of the major organic food companies in North America.

In 2005, Laura participated in a raw vegan retreat in San Diego.  It was there that she was introduced to the principles of Living Foods by Dr. Ann Wigmore. Marc Wandler, co-founder and CEO of Susgrainable, is an expert in the emerging circular economy. With 8+ years in preventative healthcare and an MBA in entrepreneurship and innovation, Marc founded Susgrainable once he realized the byproduct of beer production, rich in fibre, is exactly what Canadians needed more of.

Founder Story
Lilian Umurungi-Jung is the owner and founder of MUMGRY. One day while grocery shopping
hungry and pregnant, she noticed a lack of snacks that took into consideration the dietary
restrictions and specific needs of women during pre-pregnancy, pregnancy and beyond. Reading
labels and deciphering if snacks were good or bad was time-consuming and took all the fun out
of eating for 2! With a strong craving for peanut butter, she decided that nuts would be the main
focus and created MUMGRY natural nut butters in four varieties: smooth peanut butter, dark
chocolate peanut butter, chocolate hazelnut butter and the first-ever pistachio chocolate almond
butter; all made using no added sugar, palm oil, or additives – only the good stuff!

Terra Breads is a Vancouver-based artisan bakery producing and distributing Sourdough Bread and small batch Granola in British Columbia, Canada and the US.

Chiwis is a Squamish based women-owned brand that is passionate about making light and crispy fruit chips that are not only delicious, but are good for the environment. Chiwis was founded in 2021 by nutritionist Sarah Goodman, who launched with two flavours of upcycled kiwi chips into Chiwis first retailer – Whole Foods BC. In just over three years, Chiwis has grown from 0 to over 800 doors across Canada, in the west coast of the USA, and even to Costco’s stores in Japan. Chiwis product line has grown from two SKUs to eight, all focused on the same values – using upcycled fruits, and using as much of the fruit as possible including the skin, core, and rind. Chiwis customers can feel confident that when they purchase a bag of Chiwis fruit chips, they’re getting quality ingredients with no junk added, ever. To date Chiwis has saved over 700,000 lbs of fruit from landfills by using upcycled fruits, and as much of the fruit as possible.

All fruit deserves a Lass Chance! While some fruit may be deemed “not pretty enough” for grocery store shelves, we know that when it comes to taste, it’s 100% what’s on the inside that counts. And inside every one of our cans and bottles of craft cider, natural fruit sodas, and sparkling juice, you’ll find delicious fruits grown right here on our farm in the South Okanagan that sadly were not blessed with looks, but make up for it with a ripe, bold and juicy personality!

Lass Chance Beverages was cultivated from The Lasser Farm in Keremeos, BC, which over the last 40 years has grown into one of the top producers of high quality fruit in Western Canada. Also in that time, the Lasser family has experimented in cider making, meticulously perfecting their methods until they realized an opportunity to marry their hobby with a sustainable initiative to reduce food waste.

Sunny Lasser opened the first Lasser fruit stand in 1991, because he believed delicious, fresh fruit should be available and affordable to everyone. Now Lass Chance Beverages applies that same approach to fruit, giving each apple, peach, pear, cherry and berry grown its rightful chance to shine!

Born in Japan, raised in Canada. Mayumi has truly embraced the best of both worlds. Her curiosity for flavours, diet and fitness had amplified since childhood. She has diverse experiences in entrepreneurship, sports, martial arts, food/culinary, baking, teaching, hospitality, tourism, marketing, sales and being a mother to two pretty wicked teenagers and a wife to an ever supportive husband.

Mayumi went through a trying time over a decade ago. Her health had deteriorated with major thyroid, and medical problems. Additionally, she lost her father to Alzheimer’s disease. Mayumi’s relentless focus on personal growth and wellness started here. She recognized that what she feeds herself and her family is one of very few things she can control in her life.

Living a plant based lifestyle changed Mayumi’s life. She saw improvement in health, strength, and mental clarity. During this transformative time, Mayumi simply wanted to enjoy all the delicious foods she grew up with. Being a die hard foodie, she recognized the need for more diverse choices in the plant based space.

The Workshop Vegetarian Cafe was founded in 2016. Mayumi fell in love with watching customers devour delicious meals at the cafe. As she recognized the shift in consumer behavior, she wanted to share the team’s aspiration to keep creating and expand the reach of conveniently packaged, quality plant based meals. @plantbasedworkshop, CPG/Food Service emerged.

Mayumi’s focus is consistently on growth. She is here to embrace her journey and is exceedingly grateful for everything life has to offer.

I founded SaltSpring Kitchen in 2012.

From my grandparents’ grocery store and dinner parties to the family restaurant, my passion for food started early on. After I married a chef, my mother-in-law taught me the art of preserving, and so our story began.

I instantly fell in love with the art of preserving. I was hungry to learn more and started “putting up” everything I could get my hands on. I felt it was a beautiful way to share something I had created with friends and family. When I started selling some of my recipes at the farmers market, I had no idea what a ride this little jam company would take me on. Twelve years later, with the most incredible team by my side (seriously the BEST), I am still learning, adapting, celebrating the successes, picking myself up after failures and forever working towards continuous personal and professional improvement. I am incredibly proud of this little jam company that could. While we are not an overnight success story, my goal is to build a company based on quality and trust that will hopefully be here for a very long time. Knowing we are a small part of your everyday meals and celebrations makes all the hard work worthwhile.

Quality: At Duchess, we don’t take shortcuts. This means crafting the cleanest-possible beverages with real juice, no artificial flavours or sugar, and no unnecessary chemical additions (like suspension agents for our real juice). We source locally for as many of our inputs as possible, including our labels and cardboard packaging.

Style: Our brand was inspired by the great fashion houses, and offers an aesthetic that is very different from the typical alcohol product. Our bottles are designed to be used after the cocktail is enjoyed, inspiring many customers to use their Duchess bottle as a vase or candle holder. Our 4-pack carrier was custom designed to ensure that the tops of our bottle caps did not rub against your fingers when carrying it – unlike the carriers used by other bottled alcohol brands.

Value: While Duchess cocktails are premium, they purposefully offer better value than most of the ready-to-drink products on the market, and offer far better value than restaurant prices. At 12% ABV, each cute 280ml / 9.5oz bottle serves two full drinks, and they’re made with real juice and no artificial flavours. Family owned, Habibi’s has been producing delicious natural dips and other Mediterranean and Middle Eastern inspired products since 2008. In Arabic, Habibi’s literally means “My love, beloved, friend or darling”, so choosing the name was simple. Using family recipes passed on from the kitchens of Lebanon, Habibi’s culinary visionaries have designed a line up of take home products that you’ll share with your friends and loved ones. All our products are made with love and care by only sourcing the best ingredients possible. From making our own tahini, boiling our chickpeas, peeling fresh garlic in house to using Extra Virgin Olive Oil, we have made every effort to produce the best hummus and dips.

Poptastic flavour profiles are as unique as the individuals we celebrate. Each has been carefully crafted to offer a distinct taste, to stand out, surprise, and delight. While others make white cheddar popcorn, we decided to make Spicy Canadian Cheddah popcorn. While others season with plain salt, we decided to salt Poptastic popcorn with Black Sea Salt. Others make buttered popcorn, we make Buttah For Days. And while others use sugar to sweeten, we chose Honey Salt to satisfy the sweet tooth cravings. We believe bringing four exceptional flavour profiles to a category that has been offering the same staples for years makes our brand a true challenger, which is awesome.

A key factor for winning the consumer’s vote with a purchase is standing out on the shelf. Poptastic delivers on this front. The packaging is a vibrant expression of our brand’s personality. The Better Butchers creates innovative meat alternatives that are both healthy and delicious, using cutting-edge mushroom technology. Our products blend plant proteins with culinary mushrooms and are free from the top ten allergens, including soy and gluten. With a commitment to simplicity, we use only recognizable ingredients and high-quality spices and herbs, avoiding fillers and artificial flavors.

WOOZAS! Woooo Zaaaa, Pizza to wind up or down with. Created after a meditation I thought of the Wooza name. It’s a ‘woo worthy’ pizza. The brand is inspired by the bright Mediterranean coast line, the colourful dinner tables of Sardinia, and friends and family gathering together to enjoy one of our most beloved meals together – pizza. Pizza with no weird ingredients or preservatives. Meant to be shared, savoured, and a product that leaves a lasting experience. Dip it in hot honey or ranch, sprinkle with arugula or chilli flakes or simple enjoy as is. The labels are bright and fun with feeling. Our current 5 flavours: Pepperoni Classico!, Margherita, Bacon Lovers, Lemon Mediterranean, & Vegan Buffalo Cauliflower have been a hit in retailers across BC and the line will continue to expand this coming fall 2024.

MUMGRY connects with its customers in novel ways. Through free advertising, it diligently supports new and small retailers as well as small businesses. Additionally, it forms numerous alliances with organizations and programs in search of donations, favors, and money. Its community has expanded through podcasting, events, and partnerships across North America since its 2019 launch. In addition to prioritizing free education, MUMGRY has facilitated numerous discussions regarding gender, race, and equality with eminent academics and New York Times best-selling authors. Portofino is the fastest growing Artisan bakery in Canada and as of April 2023 we are B Corp certified which shows our commitment to people and sustainability.
