BC Food & Beverage (BCFB) releases “State of the Industry Report” with recommendations to make BC’s Food and Beverage Manufacturing Sector More Competitive.

BC Food and Beverage (BCFB), the leading advocate and representative of British Columbia’s vibrant food and beverage manufacturing industry, is issuing a call to action to the provincial government in its upcoming release of its in-depth “State of the Industry Report”.

Crafted to assess the current landscape of BC’s food and beverage manufacturing domain, this report encompasses a review and analysis of various facets crucial to industry prosperity and a call to action to preserve the health of the industry, which is crucial to BC’s economy and all British Columbians.

The report’s scope encompasses:

Challenges Analysis:

A critical examination of the challenges confronting the BC food and beverage manufacturing industry, sharing invaluable insights into issues impacting performance. Amidst mounting concerns over food security and sovereignty, BCFB underscores the urgent need for concerted action. With BC’s food and beverage industry boasting a $14 billion economic footprint and employing over 40,000 people, BCFB identifies the need for a comprehensive competitiveness strategy aimed at safeguarding and nurturing the food system in BC.

Historical and Current State Review:

Delving deep into BC’s food and beverage manufacturing operations, the report explores profitability, input costs, land/manufacturing space availability and costs, regulatory dynamics, and labor trends.

Actionable Insights:

Identifying strategies and initiatives that can be embraced by BC Food & Beverage, the provincial government, and other stakeholders to fortify the competitiveness and sustainability of BC’s food and beverage manufacturing ecosystem.

Scheduled for public release on May 30th, 2024, this Report will be a catalyst for both industry and government stakeholders to preserve our food and beverage manufacturing sector. On May 30th, BC Food & Beverage is proud to announce an online event to share the Report: including a short presentation followed by an industry panel discussion.

This industry panel, moderated by BC Food & Beverage CEO, James Donaldson, will tackle pivotal topics, including primary challenges afflicting the BC food and beverage manufacturing industry and innovative strategies to bolster industry competitiveness.
