If you are a founder of a food & beverage processing business, BCFB welcomes you to join your fellow peers in our first Founders Peer Group event.

The February 7th session will feature a brief presentation by Lara Tiro, Food Scientist and Principal of Rebel Bontanica Inc. on how to determine your product's shelf life followed by an open group discussion among peers to share experiences, challenges and ideas facilitated by Marc Wandler of Susgrainable and Miki Talebi of Oomé.

Determining your product’s shelf life is essential to the success and safety of your product. Methodologies to optimize your product’s shelf life is a frequently discussed topic amongst food product developers. This session will provide an overview of best practices and strategies as well as real-world examples.

• Explain the factors that impact a food product’s shelf life.
• Describe the testing methodologies to determine a food product’s shelf life.
• Identify common tools to extend shelf life.

Presenter:

• Lara Tiro is a Food Scientist and the Principal of Rebel Botanica Inc., a BC-based food industry consulting company. Lara has spent 20 years spearheading multiple food product concepts towards commercialization. She enjoys leveraging her food science knowledge and operational mind- set to create food that is delicious, safe and high quality. Working with entrepreneurs, helping scale their food dream is what she enjoys most about her work.
